Northwest Syria bears the brunt of a 13-year conflict, subjecting local communities to various hardships, including a collapsed health system, rampant poverty, unemployment, community breakdown, extreme living conditions and insecurity.

In 2023, IDA’s Protection Programs positively impacted the lives of 16,500 individuals, ensuring their safety, well-being, and access to essential support services.

Starting in 2019, IDA has actively engaged in the WASH cluster, attracting expertise to fortify its efforts in this essential sector that directly supports health objectives. As a health-focused organization, IDA’s strategy revolves around implementing impactful WASH and infrastructure activities that align with the primary goals of the health and nutrition sectors.
